Our latest project is a full makeover of a property in Belfast which had fallen prey to years of deferred maintenance.
We chose this property because it ticked all the boxes. It’s located in a very nice part of Belfast, it’s perfectly sized for families, and because it’s a classic 80’s Christchurch house it has great bones. The section is a good size too. When we arrived it was slightly overgrown and not looking its best, but it won’t take much to return it to its former splendour with a bit of judicious clearing and sympathetic gardening.
We started on the house by fully reroofing it in New Denim Blue Coloursteel. That will go nicely with the exterior walls, which we plan to paint in Sky Blue, after we’ve replaced a few worn and broken weatherboards.
We think this cheerful colour scheme will give it a nice lift and set it apart from the bland, run of the mill places you see everywhere.
The old roof has been letting a little water into the roof space through some corroded clouts, so we’ve elected to re-gib the ceilings throughout and also about 50% of the interior walls. However, we think the extra effort will be worth it once it’s painted and looking fresh and clean. To carry on the colour theme from the exterior, certain feature walls will be painted in exciting colours. Overall we’re aiming to create warm and welcoming spaces that will make living there a pleasure.
The two most important rooms in the house kitchen are getting the full treatment too. We’re installing a beautiful new kitchen and extending the bathroom to give the incoming family the luxury of more space.
But there’s more! We’re also treating the house to double-glazing in all the windows, new insulation throughout, and a new mains gas hot water system – to make sure the new residents will be cosy and comfortable from the day they move in.
When it’s finished this renovation is definitely going to be a cut above. We’re sparing no expense to make it the perfect showcase of all the capabilities we have within the team at Park Terrace Construction.
